In 2020, when my exceptional grandmother Marie Ange, allias Mimi, passed away, I inherited a 45-year-old ottoman beanbag. As one of the centerpieces of the living room of my grandparents' family's apartment at the North Sea, this beanbag embellished my vacation days and evenings throughout my whole life. Every day since she left, whenever I look at it, I have a thought full of gratitude and love both for her and for my vacations at the North Sea.

The story of Maison Edgar began when, Edgar, my second son, was born in september 2023.  During his first 3 month of life, I went through a quite difficult period as he was crying all day long. The only way to calm him down was to rock him for a long time on my beanbag, mentally escaping to the seaside with Mimi and my children. Peace, joy, laugh, simple and pure happiness. Those are the values Mimi left behind. As a consequence, it was obvious to me that I had to convey to everyone the importance of cultivating a positive attitude at home each day through common, but full of meaning, design objects.

I started to surf on Internet to take inspirations to draw and create the perfect beanbag in my eyes. Something nice to sit on, stand up, play with friends or kids, sit on again.. A dynamic seat, simple and refined at the same time. Also I wanted to create a product coping with my values. I had to find a way to make ethical and sustainable beanbags taking care of both humans & nature at the same time. Eventually, after so many trials and DYI sessions accompanied by Edgar my new born baby, I found the right balance between softness and shape, mixing sustainable filling stuff with high end up-cycled fashionable fabrics. Making beanbags, I thought some cushions handcrafted in the same spirit could be a nice thing on top to add color and chillness in our homes.

At the end of the day, with the Maison Edgar brand, I want to thank my grandmother for her love and the magic she spread all around her. But also celebrate this holiday spirit full of candor & beauty all year long.
